Classes will be held once a week for ½ hour. This is an energetic class filled with music, movement and games. Bring your imagination!
Intro to Dance (ages 3- 4)
Classes will be held weekly, 45 minutes per class. Students will mainly be instructed in Tap, with an introduction to Ballet, tumbling and creative movement. Students will perform in one routine in the annual recital.
Combo Class (ages 5-7)
Classes will be held weekly for one hour. Class instruction will be ½ hour ballet and ½ hour of tap. Students will perform 2 routines in the annual recital. Only one costume is necessary.
Single Subject Classes (age 7 and up)
Ballet: Ballet is the basis for all forms of dance. It develops poise and grace as well as flexibility and control. Class includes a ballet barre, muscle warm-up and stretch, technique, body placement, balance work, turns, leaps and dance combinations.
Pointe/Toe: Pointe is a continuation of ballet, available to dancers 12 years of age who have been studying ballet for at least five years. Pointe students must be very disciplined and exhibit a strong ballet technique. This class is at the discretion of the teacher.
Tap: Tap class helps to develop rhythm and coordination. Class includes a tap warm-up, tap technique, rhythmic work, turns and dance combinations.
Jazz: Jazz is a free style dance involving strength and technique through isolated movements. Class includes a jazz barre, muscle warm up and stretch, technique, isolations, turns, leaps and dance combinations.
Lyrical: Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz, available only to students who have a strong background in both. This type of dance is expresses the musical intent of the song through the emotional execution of the body. Class is at the discretion of the teacher.
Hip Hop: Hip Hop is a highly aerobic and expressive form of dance. This type of dance helps develop rhythm, coordination and musicality. This class is available to students going into 6th grade, (and above) or at the discretion of the teacher.
